The trend of increasing strict environmental regulations is a major challenge for shipowners. Two values are key for today’s ships: the attained CII and the ETS charge. BioHFO System (BioHFO-S) is TecnoVeritas’ solution for both, as it cuts CO2 emissions by 40%.
The process consists of inline blending of B100 biofuel with HFO. This has multiple upsides:

The Decarbonisation targets are tough to reach and costly to shipowners. Drop-in fuels are the right solution if not the only one for the existing fleet.
MEPC.1/Circ.905 Interim guidance on the use of biofuels under regulations 26, 27, and 28 of MARPOL Annex VI, opens the opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions.
Biofuels, do not need to be based on MGO blends, rarely exceeding 20% biofuel incorporation in the B20. Biofuel blends with HFO, are considerably less expensive, and work as well or even better than the costly B20.
Using BioHFO-S you may benefit from extreme CO2 reduction, cut on the emission of SOx, NOx and PM, and decreased SFOC.

This model gives the user total flexibility to set the optimal blend percentage for each ship.
Fully automated control system, easy-to-use through a touch screen, the operator can input the necessary blend specification and the control system of BioHFO-S will deliver the optimized B100+HFO blend to achieve the decarbonization desired level.
