About

The Institute on Transport and Logistics (ITL) is a Foundation with pubblic partecipation that has been set up the 17 December 2003 to contribute to the development and the promotion of the logistics and transport systems in Emilia-Romagna region by providing research, consulting and training activities.

The main mission of ITL is to trigger better networking among Public administrations (Regione Emilia-Romagna – RER, Provinces and Municipalities, the Ravenna`s seaport and the node authorities), private companies (Logistics providers, Hauliers, Manufacturing companies, etc. ) and training institutes (universities, business schools, professionals trainers, etc.).

Challenge

ITL (Fondazione Istituto sui Trasporti e la Logistica) is a publicly owned foundation established with the aim of contributing to the development and promotion of logistics and transportation systems in the Emilia-Romagna region through research, consultancy, and training activities.

ITL faces a challenge in managing diverse data from various sources, both public and non-public, to enhance mobility for people and logistics. The existing data, including Floating Cart Data (FCD) are heterogeneous, underutilized, and in some cases incomplete.

To address this need, ITL is researching a solution to collect and qualify the data, creating a flexible database customizable to specific needs. The objective is to analyze the correlation between different types of data in order to produce a multi layer data space that can answer with specific insights the requirements of various stakeholders, from private logistics operators to public sector planners and infrastructure developers. This solution involves developing a tool that integrates and weights heterogeneous data according to user requests, to create insights for diverse user applications and to enhance ITL's transportation and mobility systems. Ultimately, the output should facilitate predictive analysis for future planning based on historical and real-time data.

Objectives

  • Scouting a solution to manage heterogeneous spatial data from public and private sources to generate actionable insights for operators in mobility and logistics

  • Looking for solutions with TRL 6 - Technology demonstrated in relevant environment.

  • ITL is interested in collaborating with startups/scaleups to co-develop a PoC or to launch pilot projects together.
