Challenge

Parmalat, a global leader in long-life milk production, Tetra Pak, a world-leading food processing and packaging solutions company, and Caviro, Italy's largest wine cooperative, have teamed up to address a shared challenge. Each company has production lines that require the presence of human personnel near the machineries. As a result, it is vital to prevent injuries or work-related illness that might be caused by inefficient movements. For this reason, the companies want to make sure that activities are performed correctly and with minimal risk for operators. In particular, they aim to gather data on operators' postures and positions in production activities to generate aggregated reports providing insights on optimizing workplace safety and enhancing the ergonomics of activities towards an optimal way of performing tasks. Their envisioned solution involves developing a mix of hardware and software to monitor operators' actions and position along the production line. This privacy-compliant system will function as a line supervisor, promoting correct and low-risk activity execution among operators while suggesting best practices and offering training as necessary with custom reports.

Objectives

• Scouting a privacy-compliant monitoring system that captures and analyzes ergonomic data to ensure operator safety and health on the production line.

• Looking for solutions with TRL 6 - Technology demonstrated in relevant environment.

• Parmalat, Tetra Pak, and Caviro are interested in collaborating with startups/scaleups to co-develop a PoC or to launch pilot projects together.
