Integrated Governance and Nature-based Solutions for Urban and Peri-urban Resilience Enhancement (INSPiRE-Urban)
About
INSPiRE-Urban project concept, highlight how the project will contribute to the expected outcomes and address the specific focus areas outlined in the HORIZON-MISS-2024-CIT-01-01 call. Here's how the proposed project will be aligned:
1. Development and Implementation of Smart Urban Design • Blueprint Process Models: The project’s focus on developing blueprint process models for collaborative governance aligns with the call’s emphasis on smart urban design and infrastructure. These models will facilitate the integration of nature-based solutions (NBS) into urban planning, enhancing the ecological, social, and economic aspects of peri-urban areas.
2. Co-designed Mobility and Energy Solutions • Integration with Urban Systems: While primarily focused on nature-based solutions, the blueprint models can also incorporate aspects of mobility and energy systems planning in peri-urban areas, ensuring these solutions are designed in harmony with local biodiversity and green space preservation.
3. Awareness and Revitalization of Urban Spaces • Investment in Renaturing Urban Areas: By developing innovative governance and finance models for investing in nature-based solutions, the project contributes to revitalizing urban and peri-urban spaces, making them more resilient and sustainable, which is a key outcome of the call.
4. Improvement of Public Health and Liveability • Protection of Biodiversity and Green Areas: The project’s emphasis on integrating nature-based solutions will directly contribute to improved local air quality, reduction of urban heat islands, and enhanced public health and well-being through increased green spaces.
5. Enhanced Connectivity and Accessibility • Multi-Actor Engagement: The involvement of multiple stakeholders in creating the blueprint models ensures that the diverse needs and functions of urban and peri-urban areas are considered, enhancing connectivity and accessibility to natural resources.
6. Efficient Use of Urban Space • Innovative Governance Models: These models facilitate dynamic management of space, particularly in how peri-urban areas are planned and governed. This aligns with the call’s focus on efficient and fair use of urban space.
7. Smart Management of Transport and Energy • Tools and Approaches for Decision Making: Incorporating tools that aid in decision-making processes supports the integration of smart transport and energy management strategies within the governance models.
8. Planning of Green Infrastructure • Nature-Based Objectives: The project’s focus on nature-based solutions enhances green infrastructure planning, which is crucial for urban and peri-urban areas to become more sustainable and climate-resilient.
9. Transition to Renewable Energy and Sustainability • Socio-Technical Ecosystems: Addressing the technical and non-technical factors in these ecosystems supports the transition to renewable energy sources and sustainable urban development, aligning with the EU’s climate neutrality goals.
