About
ICAMCyL is a non-profit research foundation created by the main industries from the automotive, manufacturing, advanced materials, mining and processing of raw materials sectors of Castilla y León (Spain) that, supported by the Government of the region as an axis of the Regional Innovation Network is strictly related to many European municipalities and industries. It’s a singular Competence Center with the objective of filling the gaps in the Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) of the region that belongs to 2 S3P platforms and 2 Strategic European Alliances (Advanced materials for batteries & mining regions). As part of cluster’s management board, ICAMCyL ensures that ISMC gathers companies and organisations of the mining sector and its associated services to strengthen their position. (https://www.icamcyl.com/en)) ICAMCYL holds the General Management, Executive Secretary and Technical Direction of the ISMC and, in this context,ISMC promotes innovation at local, national and European level and related to regional smart specialisation strategies (RIS3). ISMC companies cover the whole mining value chain. ISMC currently includes more than 80 companies & partners across the full mining and raw materials value chain. ISMC also includes research and institutional entities joining efforts to SMEs and leading companies in the sustainable extraction of mining resources and raw materials, engineering, training, transportation, associated services and commercialisation. Our interdisciplinary team and EU experts allow us to go from project coordination or supporting innovation in SMEs to research roles or large-scale demonstrators. In addition, ISMC covers a wide range of raw materials and critical raw materials. The interdisciplinary perspective of ISMC helps to energise and boost the mining sector and its associated services, promoting growth, competitiveness and cooperation of its members, attracting business and commercial opportunities, and promoting technological innovation. Companies taking part of ISMC not only cover the whole mining value chain, but get beyond, to relevant expertise areas such as LCA, business feasibility, safety & security (e.g. “safety by design”) or environmental footprints (inc. carbon and water footprinting).
