Bangalore, India
Developing advanced catalysts for biofuels, biopolymers, CO₂ conversion & recycling, using transient kinetics & spectroscopy to drive sustainable innovation.
About me
Navneet Kumar Gupta obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Delhi, India, and then received his Master’s degrees from the University of Delhi, India (M.Tech. in Chemical Synthesis & Process Technologies) and from JAIST, Japan (M.S. in Materials Science). He received a PhD in chemistry (catalysis) from the Technical University of Munich under the supervision of Prof Johannes A Lercher on an industrial collaboration project with Bayer (now Covestro).
His experience includes postdoctoral research at Hokkaido University, KU Leuven, and the Technical University of Darmstadt. He also served as a scientist with the CSIR-CIMFR.
Currently, he is Assistant Professor at the Center for Sustainable Technologies, IISc Bangalore. His field of study is heterogeneous catalysis, emphasizing materials development for biomass/waste valorization.
He has received several prestigious awards and scholarships, including an outstanding M.S. Thesis award at JAIST, Japan, and a prestigious Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship. Most recently, he was granted the Saroj Poddar Young Investigator Award by IISc.
