Atmospheric nature excursions, discovering rocky landscapes which demonstrate the ancient relationship between man and the environment in the Natural History Archaeological Park of the Rupestrian Churches. These excursions, offering unique emotions, allows you to appreciate the beauty of the area peculiar for its fauna and vegetation, the presence of ravines, churches and rocky complexes, establishing a sensory contact with the environment. Surrounded by panoramas, it is realized in time and knowledge having the rocky environment as the real protagonist.
The “Tibetan Bridge” connects the Sassi with the Park of the Rock Churches. You walk surrounded by suggestive landscapes and typical local vegetation. Stories and traditions of the area, rock churches and ancient water collection systems are told. From Porta Postergola you go down toward the Gravina stream and, crossing the Tibetan bridge that connects the Sassi with Murgia Timone, you walk in the direction that leads to Murgia Timone. The infrastructure , made of wood, one meter wide, is suspended 9 meters from the Gravina stream. Rope balustrades and steel cables, secure and provide a stable anchorage to the rock walls of the Gravina. You walk to the cave cavities, rock churches and ancient rainwater collection systems Heritage for which Matera was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
