Enhancing Seaweed Aquaculture Governance: Working with public authorities to improve licensing and regulatory frameworks in the North Sea

The workshop organised by ShapingBio project will explore the current landscape of regulation and licensing in low-trophic aquaculture. The focus will be on identifying challenges, needs, best practices, and opportunities to enhance aquaculture governance and foster stronger collaboration between public authorities.

ShapingBio will share insights and recommendations from a case study analysing aquaculture governance structures in Denmark, Ireland, and Germany. Additionally, an aquaculture farmer will provide a firsthand account of the licensing process in the North Sea region, while a regulatory authority representative will present key insights into their licensing practices, regulations, and successful approaches.
