About me
Anu Printsmann is a landscape researcher, trained in geoinformatics and cartography and human geography at the University of Tartu, Estonia. She moved from Institute of Ecology to the Centre for Landscape and Culture, School of Humanities, Tallinn University, Estonia lecturing also in Estonian Academy of Arts and University of Tartu. She has co-edited a book Landscape and Seasonality (Kluwer 2007) and special issues for European Countryside (2010 and 2012), Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift – Norwegian Journal of Geography (2017), Methis (2019), and Sustainability (2024). In addition to academic endeavours she has been involved in applied projects concerning planning valuable landscapes for county theme plans, analysing visual aspects of landscapes and lookout towers, and engaging with historic, transboundary, (sub)urban, protected, heritage, seasonal, mire, agricultural, industrial, oil shale mining, coastal, and maritime landscapes. Anu studies landscapes as expressions of human-environment relationship by mixing human, cultural, historical and moral geography with GIS and oral histories.
