Integrating Blue in Green
- Governance
Join us in discovering the policy recommendations developed by the project to enhance cross-sectoral collaboration between the Blue and Green bioeconomy. These sectors are particularly critical in the Baltic Sea region, where land and aquatic ecosystems are closely interconnected. However, despite their interdependency, governance frameworks and market structures often operate in silos, limiting cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation. Governance issues such as the misalignment between the EU Common Agricultural Policy and the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan, or technology transfer challenges like the limited cooperation between seaweed cultivation and forestry-based biorefineries are some of the hurdles the bioeconomy has to face in the region.
The workshop will offer a participatory and interactive space to guide participants in exploring strategies to bridge governance gaps and scale up technology transfer between the Blue and Green bioeconomy sectors in the Baltic Sea region. The session will feature two expert speakers who will provide insights into national and transnational bioeconomy strategies, recommendations for improved cross-sectoral collaboration, and examples from companies working on overcoming the Blue-Green gap. The workshop is designed to be highly participatory, ensuring stakeholders leave with tangible outcomes, including initial steps to advance collaboration between green and blue bioeconomy sectors in Eastern European regions.
