Citizen Engagement Strategies in Mission Ocean: Appraisal and Next Phase
- Citizen Engagement & Education
The success of Mission Ocean is contingent on large-scale public mobilisation. To urge public action, the European Commission has outlined ten specific targets for citizen engagement in Mission Ocean. During this workshop, participants will be introduced to strategies for citizen engagement at both the regional (South Baltic) and European level (Mission Ocean projects, incl. BlueMissionBANOS). We’ll then invite participants to review the efficacy of these strategies towards the Mission’s citizen engagement targets. As we hope to bring together many different personal experiences, participants are encouraged to draw from their own case studies and testimonials in their evaluation of the presented strategies. Looking ahead to the second phase of the Mission, we’ll welcome everyone to weigh in with suggestions and priorities for the next iteration of BlueMissionBANOS. We are particularly keen to foster discussion regarding the scale-up of successful activities and to garner insight in how BlueMissionBANOS may best facilitate such endeavours.
