I am a Renewable Energy Economics Engineer, senior research fellow at PLOCAN Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands. My work covers the broad economic and socio-economic analysis of the emerging ocean energy industry in Europe, as well as creating business models for emerging technologies.
I am the coordinator in the following European projects:
• PHAROS: www.pharosproject.eu Nature Based Solutions for ecosystem and biodiversity restoration –project commence Sept 2024. The project will be a 5 year IA, €10M with 24 partners
• H2heat: www.h2-heat.eu Innovative Hydrogen renewable energy carrier production for commercial building heating – a full supply chain Demonstration –project commence Sept 2023. The project will be a 5 year IA, €12M with 15 partners
• SECURE: www.secureproject.eu Sustainable Careers for Researcher Empowerment–project commence Jan 2023. The project will be a 2 year CSA, €1.5M with 15 partners
• OPUS: www.opus-project.eu Open Universal Science–project commence Sept 2022. The project will be a 3 year CSA, €2M with 15 partners
• MUSICA www.musica_project.eu : Multiple Use of Space for Clean Island Autonomy; EU contribution €9million; UCC award €3.1M; 5-year period, start January 2020. The project will build, install and monitor a pilot demonstration floating platform which will provide all the electricity and fresh water to a small Greek island of 800 persons, and all services for an aquaculture farm. (Coordination now transferred to University of Aegean and PLOCAN has exited).
• 2017 SwafS14: RRING: www.rring.eu Responsible Research and Innovation networked globally – awarded December 2017, project commence May 2018. The project will be a 3 year RIA, €3M with 22 partners, 18 countries, 6 subcontractors.
• GRRIP: www.grrip.eu 2018 SwafS9: Grounding RRI in RPO; starting January 2019, 4 year CSA, embedding RRI in governance frameworks of 5 marine research institutes. MaREI will be one of the case studies.
• BG5 Maribe project (www.maribe.eu ): 2014-16: Marine Investment in the Blue Economy. The project was a 1.5 year CSA, €2M with 13 partners.
