Matthew Geraghty

Matthew's career is distinguished by his commitment to advancing low carbon energy solutions and sustainable development within the energy sector. Currently leading Power-to-X (PtX) division at AFRY in Finland, he plays a pivotal role in driving the transformation of renewable energy into sustainable fuels and chemicals. Recently, Matthew has leveraged his expertise in energy transition, strategy, team leadership, decarbonization, and business development to spearhead initiatives that are at the forefront of the industry's shift towards sustainability.

Before his current role, Matthew's extensive experience also includes a significant tenure at Fennovoima, where he was deeply involved in the design, O&M and commissioning preparation a new-build nuclear power plant, a project that underscored his commitment to sustainable energy and safety management. His role encompassed the creation of commissioning strategies, ensuring compliance with national and international standards, and overseeing the development of nuclear safety processes and procedures.

Before joining Fennovoima, Matthew excelled in roles focusing on the commissioning of process plants, managing significant nuclear waste processing projects, and offering technical consultancy on low carbon energy solutions, demonstrating his adeptness in strategic planning, safety management, policy advice and fostering sustainable energy technologies.
