Material validation/certification for H2/NH3 applications

Pontlab is a company which from more than 20 years supports the Industry combining advanced technical competences, laboratory examinations and product testing.

The multidisciplinary activity of the laboratory includes: tests, analyzes and measurements on materials, components and products, consultancy on the definition of test plans, material/product specifications, failure analysis and development of research projects.

Pontlab is accredited as test laboratory N° 1286 by Accredia, the Italian Accreditation Body and operates in compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

Pontlab is able to support the hydrogen/ammonia supply chain, offering highly specialized testing services to evaluate material compatibility to exposure in these environments.

Indeed, Pontlab is the only laboratory to be accredited according to ISO 17025 for the ASTM G142 – 98(2016) test method, for determining the susceptibility of metals to embrittlement in environments containing high pressure hydrogen. The test method consists of exposing specimens of selected materials to a gaseous environment containing H2 at high pressure or high temperature, while being stressed to failure in uniaxial tension.
