About me
Laurence Bonafos is a Doctor in veterinary medicine, D.V.M. She graduated from the French Veterinary School of Maisons-Alfort in 1990. From 1990 to 1994, she studied and worked in the United States at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she obtained a Master Degree in Veterinary Sciences. After working as a private veterinarian and for the French ministry of agriculture in the region of Alsace in France, she joined the European Commission in 2005. She first started at the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) as an auditor and then as a desk officer in charge of animal welfare. In 2013, she joined the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) as a desk officer in charge of surveillance of markets for animal products. Since 2016, she is the team leader responsible for the development of organic production rules in Unit B4 in DG AGRI. This covers organic production rules for livestock.
