About

We are Carlos Valles and Rubén Rico, two Valencian comic artists focused on comics and illustration.

In the time that we have been professionally working (since 2015-16), we have always worked with Spanish publishers such as Editorial Hidra ("Esttik: ¡Un millón de calorías!" and the collections "Lobos de Mar" and "Tú decides la aventura"), Editorial Sargantana, ("El Capitán Zheimer" collection), Bromera ("The Day of the Living Influencers" collection) or Penguin Random House ("Plex Extremo" and "JoelEsp and the Invisibility Button"), and more recently with European clients such as Filiin Good Films ("Joy Nadir").

In these years we have developed, as we say, humorous and adventure stories, but with experience and our own personal growth, we have discovered new interests that have led us to make more social stories, just as we have discovered other facets of comics, such as its transformative potential to contribute to improving our society or the possibilities of digital comics.

In this way, we have created six self-publications with which we have allowed ourselves to experiment with the medium and different styles ("Con dinero aúlla el lobo", which has allowed us to explore the interactivity options that digital comics provide ; "¿Por qué España?", comic to explain the situation of migrants picked up by the Aquarius ship in 2017 in Valencia, etc.).

As a team we have also won several minor comic awards and have been awarded with several artistic residencies, a moment that we have taken advantage of to experiment with some of the self-published works mentioned above. Along with the above, our knowledge in animation has allowed us to lead and make a pilot episode of "El Capitán Zheimer" collection, which can be seen on the website of the Valencian tv, Apunt, as well as several horror stories with animated illustrations for the YouTube channel "El Atrapapesadillas", or participate in the animation team of the documentary "Efest", which tells the life of an important (and unknown) Valencian sculptor.

The last two years we have been “resting” from comics and working mainly on commission (although as we write these lines, the second part of our illustrated book "The Day of the Living Influencers" is being published), and now we are betting again on our own comic that we believe can be a success due to its absurd humor, characters that are not difficult to grow fond of, and a style in which we are giving the best of ourselves.
