SAME-NeuroID Spring School – hands-on learning and exchange for students from Wrocław

On April 22, 2025, Łukasiewicz – PORT welcomed 18 students from Wrocław University of Science and Technology and University of Wrocław for a hands-on, one-day workshop as part of the SAME-NeuroID Spring School. T The event, held on-site in Wrocław, offered participants a valuable opportunity to learn about advanced neuroscience topics and discuss potential career paths with scientists from across the SAME-NeuroID network.

The day began with an energizing integration session led by Ivan Mindlin from the Paris Brain Institute, whose involvement set a collaborative tone for the day and reflected the core spirit of SAME-NeuroID – bringing together young researchers and institutions from across Europe.

Participants rotated through lab workshops on in vitro and in vivo models used in the study of psychiatric and behavioral disorders, led by Ewa Mrówczyńska and Bartosz Zglinicki from Łukasiewicz – PORT. These methods are part of the core scientific activities of SAME-NeuroID, so it was important for students to understand how they are applied in practice.

The scientific program continued with a series of short presentations highlighting the diversity of neuroscience research carried out at PORT – from neuroplasticity and neurodegeneration, to trauma, memory, and immune system interplay.

The afternoon was dedicated to career development, with sessions led by Michał Ślęzak and Martyna Skuła, who shared both academic and industrial perspectives.

The day concluded with a tour of PORT’s laboratories and a networking session facilitated by Daniela Domingues from the Paris Brain Institute, providing space for informal exchange and building connections across institutions.

Events like this are part of our effort to provide students and early-career researchers with opportunities to learn directly from scientists and build connections across institutions. More training activities are planned within the SAME-NeuroID project in the coming months.
