About

José L. Hernández, received the Telecommunication Engineer's Degree in 2008 and the MEng in the Electronics and Communications program in 2010, both from the University of Valladolid (Spain). He has been working in CARTIF since 2010 where he mainly develops activities related to RTD in European Projects, where he has published several scientific papers. His career is focused in digitalisation and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) for energy efficiency. In particular, he has expertise in sensor networks, IoT communication protocols, database technologies, data management, monitoring and control/decision-making systems. Additionally, he has worked in interoperability by means of middleware and Urban City Platforms, as well as BIM- based (Building Information Modelling) interoperability, including data models. Finally, he has implemented Building Energy Management Systems and Big-Data analytics and technologies focused on energy efficiency. He is also member of the BDVA.

My organisation

CARTIF is a horizontal, private and non-profit Research Institution, whose main mission is providing innovative solutions to the industry to enhance their processes, systems and products, improving their competitiveness and creating new business opportunities.

CARTIF develops R&D projects financed by private companies or through public funds obtained from competitive calls at national and international level. CARTIF also supports public entities (city councils, regional governments…) on high impact projects planning and development.

CARTIF is a multidisciplinary centre that works in multiple knowledge fields focused to many economic sectors: energy, food, industry, construction and infrastructures, health and environment, addressing research lines oriented to the main societal challenges, as industry 4.0, smart grids, smart cities, energy efficiency, cultural heritage, quality of life, circular economy, natural resources and biotechnology.
