About me

Luciano De Tommasi received his PhD in electrical engineering from University of Naples in 2006. Since 2021 he leads the research theme Smart Energy Services and Regulatory Innovation at the International Energy Research Center in Cork. Since 2012, Luciano has gained a vast experience in FP7 and H2020 EU funded projects about energy management and energy efficiency in buildings and districts, including the development of advanced control strategies for microgrids and multi-objective optimization tools for energy efficient design and refurbishment. Luciano is the coordinator of the SmartSPIN project https://www.smartspin.eu/contact/. His work focused initially on the market & revenue stream mapping, the review of policies supporting smart energy services and the provision of recommendations for the implementation of the SmartSPIN Service. After that, he performed a comparative analysis of business models for smart energy services and contributed to determine the key aspects of the SmartSPIN business model, also through a consultation with the project's advisory board. In the final part of the project, Luciano's work concentrates especially on the evaluation and monitoring of the performance indicators and the service validation in collaboration with the SmartSPIN pilot site leaders.
