About

The main objective of the R&D&I project is the development and validation of a prototype of Regenerated Water Containerized Plant from landfill or composting leachates. These smart containerized solutions will be equipped with advanced water purification and smart management technologies, thus optimizing operational efficiency and guaranteeing water quality.

The project responds to the significant environmental problems presented by landfill or composting leachates, due to their high pollutant load. The advanced regeneration of these leachates allows:

  • the reduction of the environmental impact of their discharge, complying with the most stringent current and future quality regulations.

  • the reuse of treated water in different uses (agricultural irrigation, urban irrigation, non-potable domestic use, artificial recharge of surface or groundwater, etc.), implementing local circular water economy strategies.

The activities planned in this project are aimed at obtaining results of scientific and socioeconomic interest, which will allow progress in the efficient management and modernization of the treatment of landfill or composting leachates. It must also respond to the challenges of the increasing pressure, due to the growing demand, on the available water resources and their sustainability, due to the environmental impact generated by anthropogenic waste and climate change.

A company (public, private or mixed) for management of urban waste landfills or composting processes is sought to collaborate.
