Trees of Knowledge - Sustainable learning: method and content
About
Our gamified digital learning platform, named Trees of Knowledge, uses gamification tools to engage users and to increase motivation through different solutions to make the content easier to process:
-
External motivation: virtual and physical (real) rewards, badges, tree planting, etc.
-
Intrinsic motivation: the system aims to engage the user in the learning process and motivate him/her to process the learning material as quickly and efficiently as possible.
-
Instant feedback: the user can continuously monitor and compare his/her results with those of other users.
-
Micro-learning: the platform motivates users to use the system continuously and regularly and to play as many games as possible, so that the knowledge acquired can be retained more effectively.
-
Group feature: group play is designed to provide group-level motivation, where members encourage each other to achieve learning goals
The platform’s unique feature is that it links learning with sustainability on several levels:
-
The key motivational element of our system is to grow virtual trees while completing one's learning journey.
-
We plant one real tree for each user and encourage our clients to allocate budget for planting further trees and use them as further motivation in the training. Thus, users not only grow and expand their knowledge, but contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable world.
-
With digital education, we protect our environment, and with learning, users plant real trees in endangered areas of the planet. Our aim is to make a difference: plant 100,000 trees and give back to nature what it needs to remain habitable. Since 2021 we have planted 10 574 trees in collaboration with the organisation, Tree Nation.
-
We have developed a complete digital learning package on sustainability - separate versions for adults and children - and ESG, consisting of a 400+ questions database, related background materials and activities.
The educational material focuses on all three aspects of sustainability: it discusses the environmental, social and governance pillars. The main value of the training material and the platform is that it helps users understand the significance of sustainability and ESG in organisations' operations, the importance of data reporting and the responsibilities of the employees in the reporting process.
Content structure
-
Environmental and social topics include: Renewable energy, air and water quality, social challenges, transport and inequalities etc.
-
A guide to understanding sustainable corporate governance: How sustainability impacts on the life of companies, green strategies, reporting etc.
-
Client and sector specific content: In addition to the standard training material, there is the possibility to include your company's own content: sustainability message, strategy, action plan etc.
Thanks to the modular nature of the training, the structure, i.e. the content and the sequence of the training, can be flexibly adapted to the needs and preferences of the client.
