About
The proposal concerns the development of thermal barrier coatings that will compose the Brazilian 14X hypersonic vehicle. This development is essential to ensure the reliability of components that will operate under extreme pressure and temperature conditions. The innovative character of the present proposal is to use laser treatment between the bonding layer and the ceramic layer to mitigate cracking at the interface. The need for studies lies in the strategic character of the project, its ability to provide solutions in other areas of the industry and the training of human resources in materials and processes for the aerospace industry. In particular, the project will investigate the possibility of laser treatments as a preparation of thermal barrier coatings, in an unprecedented way, and relying on the consolidated experience of the research group.
