The product-oriented materials area of ​​expertise at the SENAI Institute for Biomass Innovation focuses on developing technological solutions that support the institute's other areas through the application of innovative microbial processes for converting biomass into products, technological solutions for the synthesis of new monomers and monomeric precursors from biomass to be used as raw materials for the production of new products.

A fundamental part of this area is the development of technologies for new high-performance, low-cost materials from various sources of residual biomass with the potential to generate and add value.
