About
Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (IGiK) will be represented by the Remote Sensing Centre in Warsaw, which is the country's leading centre for developing new methods for the environmental and agricultural analyses incorporating the EO data. The Centre was established in 1976 and currently employs 20 researches, whose interests focus on: vegetation and crop classification, assessment of biomass, estimates of crop yield and yield prognosis, drought and flood detection and monitoring, estimates of heat fluxes, soil moisture assessment, assessment of carbon balance, use of remote sensing techniques for environmental studies in wetland, grassland, forest and agriculture areas using optical and microwave data. IGiK has a long experience in international and national cooperation.
The experience of IGIK in the field of research was proven by successful completion of many national and international projects related to EO-based environmental assessment. IGiK has participated in several FP6 and FP7 Projects, such as: Geoland (FP6), Geoland2 (FP7), MS.MONINA (FP7), CEUBIOM (FP7). Leader of CORINE Projects 1990, 2000, 2012, 2016, 2020. Participant in ESA GLOBBIOMASS Project, ESA Project “Technical Support for the setup and scientific exploitation of the Sentinel-1 Supersite in Biebrza-Poland ESA Express Procurement “EXPRO” (2014-2017); ESA Project “Land Products Validation and Characterisation in support to Proba-V, S-2 and S-3 missions” (2015-2018).
