About
W3G Marine Ltd (W3GM), a company formed in 2010 and which develops innovative high performing and cost saving offshore installation tools primarily to be used in the construction of offshore wind farms.
W3GM have also supported the owners of the Kincardine Offshore floating windfarm through its development, construction and operation since 2018. The windfarm is located 15 kms off the coast of Aberdeen, Scotland, and has an installed capacity of 50MW. W3GM acted as Owner’s Engineer and Project Manager since early 2018.
The W3GM tools include a jacket to pile ‘gripper’, an underwater noise mitigation system and a turbine assembly methodology which can be used to install any size of turbine onto a floating foundation without the need for a large crane, overcoming a key challenge the industry will soon face to further scaling up.
