Yota Georgakopoulou

With a PhD in translation and subtitling, a stint in academia, participation in international research projects and two decades in senior management roles at multinational language service providers, Panayota (Yota) Georgakopoulou is a media localisation expert with a deep knowledge of the industry landscape. Six years ago, she founded Athena Consultancy to focus on the implementation of language technologies in audiovisual text. Her clientele includes language service providers, software and technology companies, content owners and institutions. Yota advises on strategy, business development, quality, tools, workflows, post-editing, as well as talent sourcing, training and management. She is a member of the European Commission’s Language Industry (LIND) expert group, on the steering committee of the Languages & The Media international conference, the founder of the Greece Chapter of Women in Localization, as well as a writer, speaker and influencer in the media localisation space.
