About

Sandra Mouton is a French freelance translator, working with English, Russian and Latin on marketing, lifestyle, boats, hospitality and humanities texts. She holds degrees in classical languages, English and French from La Sorbonne university in Paris. After working as a teacher in France, she moved to a translation career and to the United Kingdom in 2008. 

Convinced of the many benefits that translators’ associations bring both to practitioners and to the profession at large, Sandra is a long-standing member of France’s Société française des traducteurs (SFT), of the UK’s Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), and of the ITI Western Regional Group (ITI WRG), local to her in the West of England. 

Sandra is secretary general of the Regional Centre for Europe of the International Federation of Translators (FIT Europe) and serves on the editorial committee of Translatio, FIT’s trilingual newsletter (in EN, FR and ES).

FIT is the federation of professional associations of interpreters, translators, and terminologists working in areas as diverse as literary, scientific and technical spheres, the public service, court and legal settings, conference interpreting, media and diplomatic fields and academia. The goal of the Federation is to promote professionalism in the disciplines it represents. It seeks constantly to improve conditions for the profession in all countries and to uphold translators’ rights and freedom of expression. FIT supports members and the profession at an international level, building community, visibility and a sustainable future for the profession.
