Gys-Walt van Egdom holds a doctor's degree in linguistics and literary studies and a master's degree in Translation Studies. He is a lecturer and researcher at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (Maastricht School of Translation and Interpreting) and is also affiliated to Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research interests include the ethics of translation, literary translation, the philosophy of language, translation evaluation, translation didactics and translation technology. He represents the International Network of Simulated Translation Bureaus as co-chairman.
