The UNIVERSITY OF EXTREMADURA was created in 1973. Its history is closely linked to the Extremadura community. Initially it was made up of the Faculty of Sciences of Badajoz, the University College of Cáceres, the University Schools of EGB Teachers of Cáceres and Badajoz and the School of Agricultural Technical Engineering of Badajoz. Since then, the UEx has increased its students, degrees and centers until it has four spaces made up of the Badajoz campus , the Cáceres campus , the University Center of Mérida and the University Center of Plasencia. More than 24,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students study at UEx, and another 8,000 take doctoral courses, private degrees or continuing education. 1,500 professors teach and more than 800 administrative, technical and service personnel work there. The Rector is Mr. Pedro M. Fernández Salguero and the Government of the University is organized through different collegiate bodies, such as the Senate and the Governing Council , and individual bodies such as the Vice-Rectorates , Management and General Secretariat .
