Piotr Klimczyk, PhD, DSc, Sintering Techniques Area Leader (since 2020) in the Centre of Materials and Manufacturing Technologies at the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology (previously The Institute of Metal Cutting and then The Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, jointly since 2001).
The main area of his professional activity is research and development of advanced ceramic materials, including superhard composites based on cubic boron nitride, obtained by physically activated sintering methods, in particular by the HPHT (High Pressure - High Temperature) method and the SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering) method. Throughout his scientific activity, Piotr Klimczyk participated in various national and international research projects. Currently, he is the leader of the international project "DuplexCER - High performance duplex ceramics for efficient machining of nickel superalloys", M-ERA.NET Call 2021, the aim of which is to obtain oxide-carbide tool composites, including composites containing tungsten carbide recovered from worn sintered carbides. Piotr Klimczyk is the author or co-author of over 100 scientific publications in international and national journals. He is also a co-inventor of nine solutions protected by patents or pending patent protection, concerning the manufacturing of advanced ceramics and superhard materials, especially for applications in cutting tools.
