About

The AMRC NW have several joining technologies and are involved with battery cell and module/pack joining research projects, in the following areas:

  • Dissimilar metal joining

  • Cell-level joining research

  • Novel laser soldering research

  • Surface engineering to enable reversible joining

On-site equipment includes:

  • Laser welder with scan head and depth detection (8kW CW IR)

  • Heavy wire bonding, copper or aluminium wire, up to 0.5mm

  • Ultrasonic welding (20kHz, up to 4kW)

  • Electrical resistance measurment (0.01μΩ to 1200MΩ)

  • Matullurgy Lab

  • CT Scanner

  • Tensile Tester
