About

The main problem our project addresses is related to treatment and disposal of industrial waste streams by industrial producers. Characteristics of wastewaters from different industries directly depend on their origin, and in most cases contain substances which could endanger environment and ecosystems. Therefore, the inevitable part of production process is waste streams treatment. Ideally, it could be established to provide secure way of turning waste into value-added products by an adequate technology. Wastewater from industrial production processes represents a challenge and an opportunity at the same time. Producers are often unaware of the possibilities and the economic value held in waste streams. In the last years, the interest in the role of biotechnology in waste management is rising, but still there is a lack of available data systematically processed to make it approachable and understandable to the producers. We recognized the problem and gap between potential embedded in waste and the recognition of biotechnology as a powerful tool offering promising solutions for waste valorization. Therefore, our solution represents usage of biotechnological processes for treatment of industrial wastewaters, simultaneously obtaining value-added products by microorganisms as biological catalysts using residual substances held in the industrial waste streams.
