Challenges and opportunities for agriculture stemming from shifting climatic zones and changing agroecological environments

About

Our contribution is built around water-regenerating practices, which we aim to:

  • Document: Assess cultivation practices and value chains, leveraging technological innovations (sensors, satellites); conduct economic, environmental, and social evaluations.

  • Understand: Analyze financial mechanisms, policies, and governance strategies.

  • Raise awareness: Target northern regions affected by the expansion of Mediterranean climates by disseminating best practices, supporting peer-to-peer learning through digital tools and cross-visits, and engaging young and future farmers (collaborations with agricultural schools).

We plan to establish on-farm pilot sites that combine water-saving practices with water management tools to demonstrate solutions. Our approach should include monitoring sites, testing innovative tools (especially low-cost sensors), assessing impacts, documenting farm case studies and farmer feedback, and accelerating the transition through digital tools (training and acculturation showcasing best practices).

We would be happy to join a consortium aligned with these objectives. We can provide pilot-sites, sensors to test and strong dissemination means to raise awarness and acculturate actors to changing climate and cultivation conditions.
