Digital for Planet (D4P) is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting sustainable digital innovation across Europe. Serving as a Green Digital Hub, D4P unites a diverse community of private, public, and research institutions committed to advancing green digital technologies for the sustainable development of society and the economy. Members benefit from access to EU funding opportunities, collaboration in working groups, and valuable resources, all aimed at fostering a digitally empowered society in harmony with the environment.

OUR MISSION: To advance environmental protection and regeneration while advancing equitable progress through sustainable and ethical digital technologies. This is achieved by deepening the understanding of the complex relationships within digital sustainability, accelerating responsible digital solution development and adoption, and growing a collaborative multi-actor ecosystem.
OBJECTIVES: Advance Research and Knowledge: Develop and disseminate research on digital sustainability, exploring the complex relationships between technology, environment, and social progress.
Accelerate Innovative Solutions: Support and catalyse the development of ethical digital technologies that address environmental and social challenges through targeted programs and resources.
Build Awareness and Capacity: Design information campaigns to enhance understanding of digital sustainability and build skills and mobilise resources towards responsible digital innovation.
Foster Collaborative Ecosystems: Create and strengthen a large network of diverse stakeholders to enable cross-sector collaboration and knowledge sharing in sustainable digital technologies.
Influence Policy and Advocacy: Engage with policymakers and stakeholders to promote and develop guidelines for sustainable and ethical digital transformation.
About me
Dr. Daniel Onwude is a Computational Scientist with over 10 years of experience in Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering, and a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Process Engineering.
In the past four years, Dr. Onwude was a Senior Scientist at Empa and a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS) at ETH Zurich. At Empa, he led a team dedicated to developing digital twin and AI applications to enhance sustainability in the Agri-Food value chain. He also coordinated numerous national and regional grant-funded projects, overseeing both proposal writing and execution.
Dr. Onwude has an impressive publication record, with over 75 peer-reviewed journal articles, including more than 45 in Q1 high-impact Engineering, Food Science, and Sustainability journals, all published within 8 years. In addition to publishing several book chapters, he holds multiple intellectual property rights. Recognized for his contributions to the field, Stanford University ranked Dr. Onwude among the top 2% of scientists globally in 2024 and listed him among the top 15 scientists in Agricultural, Environmental, and Food Sciences in Switzerland.
