We are the Southern Agriculture and Horticulture Organization (ZLTO), committed to representing and supporting the interests of farmers and horticulturists in the Southern Netherlands. Our mission is to foster sustainable agricultural practices while enhancing the economic viability of our members through innovation, collaboration, and advocacy. We provide a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and access to resources that empower our community to thrive in a competitive landscape. Together, we strive to build a resilient and vibrant agricultural sector that meets the challenges of today and tomorrow.
I am a Cuban-born who specialized in plant health with a PhD in Phytopathology and a Bachelor’s in Microbiology. As a Project Leader and Horizon Programme Leader at ZLTO, I contribute to European research and innovation in agriculture. Previously, I worked as a Project Manager at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), focusing on plant protection, beneficial microbes, and sustainable farming solutions. I also served as an Innovation Project Manager at Van Iperen International, developing strategies for plant nutrition and protection. As an active member of COPA-COGECA’s Working Party on Research & Innovation and the SCAR AKIS group, I am passionate about fostering collaboration and connecting research, industry, and farmers to drive agricultural innovation.
