About me

Ramin Ebrahimnejad is the Business Development Manager at the Advanced Plant Growth Centre (APGC) within James Hutton Group and serves as the Financial Sustainability Deputy Champion for the National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC). He earned his Master’s degree in Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture from Shahid Beheshti University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering. Ramin is fervently dedicated to advancing sustainable agricultural practices, promoting equitable economic growth, and particularly focusing on plant variety development for climate change mitigation and environmental conservation.

In his pivotal role at APGC and NAPIC, Ramin spearheads initiatives to secure funding and champion the development of innovative agricultural technologies, with a particular emphasis on Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), vertical farming, and alternative protein sources. As Financial Sustainability Deputy Champion at NAPIC, he plays a key role in ensuring the centre's long-term financial viability by identifying funding opportunities, fostering industry partnerships, and developing strategic initiatives that support the centre’s commercial impact. He is deeply interested in the use of advanced phenotyping platforms to develop plant varieties that are resilient to climatic changes and capable of conserving the environment. His responsibilities include shaping strategic plans, nurturing relationships with key stakeholders across the industry, and coordinating with researchers to promote agricultural and alternative protein innovations that are economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

Previously, Ramin contributed significantly to various initiatives at the Association for Vertical Farming. His broad responsibilities supported the organisation’s strategic objectives, especially in enhancing vertical farming techniques and practices. He also served as the Vice Chair of the Board and was the Head of Science and Education, advocating for the integration of scientific research with practical agricultural applications.

Ramin is passionate about collaborating with individuals and organisations dedicated to making a substantial and lasting impact on the agricultural and food sectors, particularly through innovative and sustainable approaches in CEA, vertical farming, and alternative proteins. His interest in developing plant varieties specifically designed to address the challenges of climate change and environmental conservation underscores his commitment to a sustainable agricultural future.
