Agriculture continues to be one of the main causes of deforestation and biodiversity loss worldwide. In response to this global challenge, the European Union has adopted Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 on deforestation-free products (EUDR), which requires raw materials such as coffee to be traceable and free from deforestation since December 31, 2020.

This new regulation represents both a technical and financial challenge —especially for MSMEs and cooperatives— as well as a major opportunity to stand out in European markets that prioritize sustainability.

The CAVEC project supports producers and organizations in Huila in this process through training on the EUDR, strengthening of environmental and social management systems, and the creation of connections with committed European buyers.
