Adressing the end-user for energy efficient and clean environment
About
In order to facilitate the energy transition and the phase-out of fossil energy supply, civil society should be involved and agree on measurements set by policy makers. We at BEST support this transition by three dimensions: A) Analysis of user motives and decision making. Better understanding of underlying motives of consumers considering a new residential energy supply system (RESS) (heating, cooling and power) can support to the set-up of favorable conditions for an energy transition. I particular the impact of gender and intersecting aspects like e.g. income, age or education on the decision were evaluated. B) Empowerment and stewardship. Basing on our CleanAir projects (https://www.best-research.eu/de/kompetenzbereiche/verbrennung/projekte/view/615) we concluded that creating awareness and improving peoples behaviour in firing their residential stove, has a significant impact on emission release and thus also on regional air quality. C) Impact monitoring. Monitoring the efficiency of integrated RES in particular with ventilation components for energy recovery to optimize the energetic performance of buildings. The monitoring on the one hand derives valuable information to the user and valuable findings for future technology development.
