About

Cultural tourism, which is one of the areas where our country cannot provide enough income, cannot provide sufficient income and interest, although Serik District also contains many cultural features. If we list the cultural assets of our district:

ASPENDOS ANTIQUE CITY

The ancient city of Aspendos, which has the best preserved Roman theater not only in Anatolia but also in the entire Mediterranean basin, is located at the 48th kilometer of the Antalya - Manavgat highway and 4 kilometers north of the road. According to Greek legend, the ancient city, located in Belkıs Town, was founded by Argive colonists led by the hero Mopsos, who came to Pamphylia after the Trojan War. Aspendos is one of the first cities in the region to mint coins in its own name. Located on an important trade route, Aspendos is connected to the harbor by the Köprüçay River.

SILLYON ANTIQUE CITY

Located between Perge and Aspendos, this Pamphylian city was built on a hill with almost completely steep slopes and a flat top. It is an important city located 16 km from our district and located at the 8th kilometer of the road turning north from the turnoff at the 29th kilometer of the Antalya - Alanya highway. This hill can be seen even from a distance with its unusual physical structure. Like all other cities of Pamphylia, Sillyon is generally accepted to have been founded by the heroes Mopsos and Calchas after the Trojan War.

PEDNELİSSOS ANTIQUE CITY

It is located 1 km east of the Kozan Village of our district and on the southern and western slope of a hill known as Bodrumkaya, at an altitude of approximately 650 m. The ruins at Bodrumkaya are located about 75 km northeast of Antalya. The site was first visited by Italian researchers in 1914 and introduced to the scientific world as the ancient city of Pednelissos.

GÖKÇEPINAR ANTIQUE SETTLEMENT

Gökçepınar village is a mountainous forest village established southwest of Ardıçlı Mountain and northwest of Bozkaya Mountain. You can reach Gökçepınar in a short time when you turn north from the "Çandır Town Turnoff" on the Antalya - Serik highway and follow the Çandır - Alacami route. It is 55 km to Antalya province and 24 km to our district. Pinarli Stream passes through the village. It is said that the water that used to be transported to the historical settlement of Aspendos through arches and tunnels was taken from the springs in this village. Remains of tunnels and arches are still found.

AKBAS VILLAGE - KISIK RUINS

Kısık Ruins, which is 28 km away from the district center, is reached from the stabilized road route from the Akbaş village road to the Naneli plateau. Around 600 meters high, Kısık Ruins, which is a large castle settlement from the Roman period in the Kısık region, attracts attention. Another historical value of the village is the 40-50 meter high aqueduct on Kısık Creek. This arch is the extension of the arches that carry water to the ancient city of Aspendos and are the subject of the famous legend.
