District heating system with more than 8600 users.
About
Since 2001, Salihli Municipality has been running a geothermal district heating system, gradually increasing its capacity. Although it was intended to support 20.000 users, the system could only support 8600 users mainly due to shortfall of geothermal sources and outdated equipment.
The system is outdated and inefficient. The 8600 users are distributed throughout an area of around 3 square kilometers, and there are issues with hydraulic balancing and heat distribution. All manually controlled system could be augmented with automation systems and efficient pumps.
