Machine learning algorithms for the transformation of hard-coal mines into green energy power plants integrated with energy storage
Prof. at Department of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery, the Silesian University of Technology
Poland
About
The project is based on using the infrastructure of an existing coal mine which is going to be closed soon. There is still a constant need to pump the water out. We want to use it as energy storage (pumped-storage using existing chambers and shafts hundreds of meters deep), use desalination and cleaning of water as energy on demand, hydrogen from electrolyzer as a product and way of storage and so on. The project is about optimizing selected devices, technologies, and proposing solutions. There also exist some renewables (possessed by the coal mine owner) in the area, they can be integrated into the system and extended in the future.
