e-RMeOH Project
About
Project/technology focus: Experimental validation, with proprietary technology solutions, of an innovative E-MeOH production utilizing green H2 and CO2 (51% biogenic) as feedstock.
Project/technology short description: The project will demonstrate both the technology and the business case related to conversion of renewable H2 and CO2 into methanol. The technology will be based on an innovative and patented process scheme. This integrates an electrified Reverse Water Gas Shift reactor (e-RWGS) followed by a methanol synthesis step.
General Objective of the Project: Design, engineering, construction, installation and operation of a pilot plant (TRL7) for producing methanol (MeOH) from CO2, captured from flue gases of waste-to-energy plants, and hydrogen, produced using excess renewable energy. The pilot plant will include an e-RWGS reactor for the intermediate production of syngas and a MeOH synthesis reactor. The target of the project is the supply of a synthetic fuel and chemical to the maritime, aviation and chemical industry at competitive prices and fully in compliance with the European and international decarbonization requirements
