I am an expert in defect analysis using positron techniques: positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy and Doppler broadening spectroscopy.
Dr. Ugur Yahsi is a Physics Professor at Marmara University in Turkey. He received his B.Sc. from Istanbul University in 1983, M.Sc. from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988 and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1994. His research focuses on theoretically statistical thermodynamics of polymers and experimentally positron/positronium physics. Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy (PALS) and Doppler Broadening Spectroscopy (DBS) are the main tools he uses in his research to look for vacancy defects and see how they affect materials (bulk or films).
His laboratory at Marmara University comprises fast-fast coincidence system for PALS and variable energy positron beam systems with DBS to study surfaces such as coatings, films, etc. His current interests are twofold: experimentally the defect formation of ion irradiated materials, free volume effect of Li batteries, defects on Mg/B co-doped ZnO nanoparticles, vacancy defects of bovine hydroxyapatite, etc. and theoretically free volume behavior of viscosity, ionic conductivity and relaxation of chain molecular system using statistical thermodynamics.
