She is a member of the Turkish Medicine Association, Member of the High-Level Expert Database of the Eurostars Program, The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and Board Member of the Istanbul Health Industry Cluster.
Currently, she is working as a researcher and inventor at the Technopark Istanbul which is the Research and Development Center in Turkey. The development of patented wound formulations involved cutting-edge biochemistry and pharmaceutical technology to create a solution that is both effective and scalable. The product’s development is grounded in science and technology, leveraging years of research into plant-based molecules and their impact on wound healing.
She has passion towards innovation, not only R&D studies, but also focused on go to market in accordance with the legislation.
Her project was awarded with the 'Seal of Excellence' in 2025.

Umayana is a deep-tech biotechnology startup, founded in February 2022 by a team of women entrepreneurs, headquartered in Teknopark Istanbul, benefiting from its state-of-the-art facilities, EU-accredited labs, and robust support services. Umayana specializes in developing preventative and curative solutions for severe wound care, particularly targeting the oral mucositis (OM) market, which primarily affects cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Company founder Hulya Dağöttüren, has over 25 years of experience in biochemistry and medical product development, supported by a strong team of scientists, clinicians, and business professionals.
