About me
Rosalia Santoleri is the President of the Italian Oceanographic Commission, the national body of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and since 2017 she is member of the IOC Executive Council. Until March 2023, she has been Director of the Institute of Marine Science of the National Research Council of Italy, the largest Italian marine research Institute.She is currently a member of ESA's Earth Observation Advisory Board and a delegate of the Italian Ministry of Scientific Research to the G7 Working Group 'Future of the Ocean and the Sea', which this year is chaired by Italy. Her research focuses on the fields of marine dynamics, sea observation, operational oceanography and the study of climate change in the recent past, including through directing national and international research groups. He has contributed with a leadership role to the European effort in the field of operational oceanography, participating in the design, development and implementation of the European Copernicus Marine service. She is the author of more than 200 scientific publications. In 2021, she joined the Reuters list of the 'world's top climate scientists'. R.
