WS A-1. EU cooperation on coast guard functions in practice

Description:

After seven years since the first TWA between EFCA, EMSA and Frontex has been signed to implement the European Cooperation on Coast Guard Functions, a considerable closer cross-sectoral and cross-border cooperation through  dedicated information exchange and surveillance services, capacity building activities and multipurpose maritime operations in selected sea basins has  been achieved. On the other hand, the geopolitical situation has substantially changed and risks and threats have evolved. This is reflected in the revised EUMSS and Action Plan, where the Agencies are indicated in numerous actions.

The objective of this workshop is therefore to allow an interactive discussion on the following points:

-        What has the cooperation reached in terms of support to Member States?

-        What added value did the operational cooperation bring?

-        How can the cooperation progress considering the evolution of the risks and threats in the maritime domain? What are the future steps and developments of the inter-agency cooperation?
