Workshop 09 "The EUMSS – the role of EFCA, EMSA, and Frontex"

The EU Maritime Security Strategy (EUMSS) and its Action Plan were revised in 2023, responding to the recent geopolitical changes and the important evolution of risk and threats in the maritime domain, including hybrid and cybersecurity threats. This revision gives more impetus to the EU Agencies (EFCA, EMSA, and Frontex) to play the role of global maritime security providers, to contribute to the exchange of experience and best practices and to promote maritime situational awareness.

The objective of the workshop is therefore to allow an interactive discussion on the following points:

1. What common actions have been achieved / implemented under the Tripartite Working Arrangement (TWA) in line with the EUMSS?

2. How can the cooperation be further developed considering the evolving risks and threats in the maritime domain, as outlined in the EUMSS?

3. What potential civilian collaborative tools could be developed at regional and EU level? What are the concerns of the/our maritime partners and how could the Agencies contribute to addressing them, within their respective mandates?
