Algaran is a small manufacturing Company with a promising future. Algaran's state-of-the-art premises can easily face much bigger production, with the best quality achievable.

The founder, Rosaria, started producing High-quality extracts from fresh seaweed in 2001 when no one else believed this could be an option. Why dry and pulverise seaweed first if this step could be avoided with Ultrasound technology?

It took Rosaria and a few engineers four years of trials to discover the correct parameters (wavelength, frequency, and power) to be applied on seaweed, which would be impossible to release its compounds in any other possible way other than with chemicals and high temperatures.

Before moving to Ireland, Rosaria worked in Italy for different important companies, where she learned about technologies and established key contacts, especially in the drink sectors:

Rosaria learned the importance of using only natural ingredients and discovered the incredible versatility of Sonication to extract natural compounds from herbs and spices.

Our Mission and Values:

At Algaran, we are committed to creating a diverse range of high-quality ready-to-use seaweed products, and we also supply our special fresh seaweed extracts for the Food and Cosmetic industry.

The algaran extraction process is Ultrasound-assisted. Our device is designed to break the seaweed cells at low temperatures, bursting out the beneficial compounds and active principles without damaging the fibre structure.

However, we have identified and we consider our best and unique product:

SÚ Irish Sea Moss juice, trialled and tested at St.Angela's Food College, can now be produced on a large scale to meet large orders and market demands.

SÚ is the result of a long study to obtain an Irish Moss (Seaweed) beverage with a unique jelly-like consistency, which is very pleasant in taste, highly beneficial for health, and with a long enough attractive shelf life to be exported worldwide.

A traditional homemade preparation called Carragheen (Charraigín) Moss helped generations of people living along the Atlantic Coast of Ireland with health problems, especially during the winter. So, we started considering the best way to extract the precious agar (jelly substance) from the local seaweed Chondrus crispus through sonication, and we added different fruits and spices to make it more acceptable for any taste.

We also found the correct process to make this perishable formulation have a longer shelf life (nine months) and no need to refrigerate it during transport or storage.

SÚ (meaning Juice in the Irish language) can be considered a concentrated nutraceutical drink containing essential Vitamins, Minerals, amino acids, and anti-oxidant compounds in very high concentrations. SÚ is also a high source of Iodine that increases metabolism and promotes health.
