Development of a Life Cycle Environmental Impact Assessment System for Ships
About
As carbon neutrality goals drive stricter environmental regulations, the demand for emission calculation technologies considering the life cycle environmental impact of ships has become urgent. However, there are currently no cases, domestically or internationally, where life cycle environmental impact assessment (LCA) technology has been applied to the port and shipping sectors.
This project aims to develop the world's first LCA system that can be applied to both ports and ships. The system is expected to play a key role in converting environmental indicators of domestic ports and ship operations into economic values, maximizing economic efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. Furthermore, it will contribute to the sustainable development of the domestic and international port and shipping industries, strengthening global market competitiveness.
