I received a PhD in Computer Science in 2016. Since then, I have been at ITI/LARSyS in Portugal, leading the Further Energy and Environment research Laboratory.

My organisation

My research applies data science, machine learning, and human-computer interaction techniques toward bridging the gap between laboratory and real-world applicability of ICT for sustainable development goals (SDGs). My current research focuses on future energy systems and sustainable built environments, and it typically involves the real-world deployment and evaluation of monitoring technologies and software systems. This research line is being conducted in the scope of different regional, national, and international research projects, as listed below: Concluded: - Smart Island Energy Systems (SMILE); Horizon 2020 IA; 2017 - 2021 - Future Industrial Kitchen (FIK); Madeira 14-20; 2018 - 2019 Ongoing: - Exploring the Human-Water-Energy Nexus in Industrial Kitchens (nexIK); FCT; 2022 - 2023 - Innovative Tools for Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (InnoCyPES); Horizon 2020 MSCA ITN; 2021 - 2024 Starting Soon: - Accurate Federated Learning with Uncertainty Quantification for DER Forecasting Applied to Smart Grids Planning and Operation (ALAMO); FCT MIT-Portugal; 2023 - 2024 - Shift to Direct Current (SHIFT2DC); Horizon Europe - IA; 2023-2027
